Biography
Professor Joseph Amankwah-Amoah is Professor of International Business and Programme Director for International Business at Durham University Business School. In the spring 2026 round he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, one of the highest distinctions available to a social scientist in the United Kingdom. He previously held posts at the Universities of Bristol and Kent, serving as Professor of International Business and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at Kent Business School. He is an international expert member of the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa Knowledge Network. He has been named in Stanford University’s list of the world’s top two per cent of scientists for citation impact for four consecutive years. He has published more than 160 articles over ninety of them in ABS 3*/4* and ABDC A/A* outlets including the Journal of International Business Studies, the British Journal of Management, the Journal of World Business, Industrial and Corporate Change, MIT Sloan Management Review and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. His work has attracted more than 13,000 citations.
