Purpose

The Academic Board (Senate) is the principal academic authority of the University, responsible for the regulation and oversight of teaching, learning, scholarship and research.

Key responsibilities

  • Approve new programmes, curriculum changes and academic regulations.
  • Set and uphold academic standards, assessment policy and award classifications.
  • Oversee scholarship, research integrity and academic quality enhancement.
  • Advise Council on academic strategy and resource priorities.

Composition

The President (Chair), Deputy Presidents, Deans, elected academic staff, professional service heads and student representatives.

Meets

At least once per semester.
