Master of Public Health (MPH)
The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional degree designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to promote health, prevent disease, and improve health outcomes in populations worldwide. Public health is a multidisciplinary field that addresses a wide range of health challenges, including injuries, infectious and non-communicable diseases, health inequities, environmental health, healthcare policy, and health systems management. The MPH program provides students with a strong foundation in core areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion, health systems, and policy analysis to deal with contemporary public health issues as well use diverse approaches in solving Public Health problems. Admitted students to this course are expected to exhibit core competencies such as evidence-based approaches to Public Health. This will enable them to apply the knowledge acquired in epidemiological methods to select appropriate data collection techniques, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to solve real world problems. Acquiring competency in Public Health and Health Care Systems is also key to understanding the structure and function of health care and public health systems across different settings. planning and Management skills will enable residents to assessing population health needs, design policies and interventions, and manage resources efficiently. It is also crucial to acquire competencies in Policy and Advocacy for engaging various stakeholders in the policy-making processes, building coalitions, and advocating for health equity which is an assurance function of Public Health. Leadership and Communication skills is needed. Residents upon completion would be poised to apply leadership principles, using negotiation skills, and effectively communicating public health content. To crown it all, inter professional practice and Systems Thinking is needed to integrate perspectives from various sectors, residents in this programme will be empowered to apply systems thinking tools to public health issues.

Admission Requirements
- Category A: Direct Entry
First degree with, a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division in any health-related discipline as well as other diversified fields. Applicants will apply, and attend a selection interview.
- Category B: Other Entry Qualifications
All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana.
